Kennedy Center Moves for Significant Name Change to Trump-Kennedy Performing Arts Center, According to White House Announcement.

The board of trustees of the iconic performing arts venue has voted to adopt a new name the Trump-Kennedy Center, as confirmed by the White House.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on social media that the board's approval was consensus, attributing it to "the tremendous efforts President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building."
"This promises to be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt achieve new levels of grandeur and success," Leavitt noted.
The planned renaming is likely to prove extremely contentious, notably in Washington, D.C., where the center has served as an iconic landmark since its construction and christening for President John F. Kennedy.
Background of the Institution
Soon after taking office, President Donald Trump dismissed all the center's existing board members and named supporters in their stead. The reconstituted board then voted to appoint Trump as chairman.
The president later secured approximately $257 million in federal funds to pay for significant upgrades and other financial needs at the historic venue.
Inception
The concept for a federal performing arts center originated in the 1950s. Following the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, in 1963, the future venue was christened the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
